Our story
From Gary, Indiana to a name Cleveland trusts.
Floyd and Genelle Hardin moved to Gary, Indiana in the 1950s. Floyd, who battled poor eyesight his whole life, found work as a cement finisher across northern Indiana and Illinois while Genelle ran the daycare at their church. They weren't easy years, but through faith, love, and hard work, they raised five children and built a life.
When Floyd's eyesight forced him to retire early, the couple bought the franchise for Award Realty in 1988, separated from Century 21, and struck out on their own. It wasn't long before they purchased their office building on Keith Street, where Award Realty still works to this day.
Their daughter, Marcia Botts, had always been drawn to real estate, earning her certification while living in Pennsylvania. In 1994 she came home to Cleveland, joined her parents, and hit the ground running, picking up the mantle of service and ministry in the local market.
Faith, family, and hard work are still the heart and soul of Award Realty. That's what Floyd and Genelle built, and it's what every agent here carries forward today.
